Welcome to Old Parish Church, the First Congregational Church of Sheffield, and a member of the United Church of Christ. We are many ages, many faces, many talents, all seeking God’s grace and purpose. We are open and responsive to all and welcome you wherever you are on your faith journey.
Our Fourfold Statement of Commitment
1) By God’s grace, we will be an attentive church. We commit ourselves to listen for God’s word in Holy Scripture, in the life and teachings of Jesus, in our rich heritage, in faithful witness, and in the fresh winds of the Holy Spirit, so that we may discover God’s way for us.
2) By God’s grace, having before us the example of Christ’s compassion, we will be an inclusive church. We commit ourselves to be a church for all people, celebrating, affirming and embracing the rich diversity of God’s creation.
3) By God’s grace, we will be a responsive church. We commit ourselves to be a church of justice, mercy and peace so that lives may be renewed, spirits revived and worlds transformed.
4) By the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit, we will be a supportive church. We commit ourselves to strengthen one another through mutual support. We will extend our cooperation to the church universal and to other communitites of faith whose values we share and with whom we may join hands in loving ministry to the world for the greater glory of God.
Join us for Sunday worship at 10 a.m. Children gather at the same hour for Christian Education and join the congregation at the end of the service for a special children’s time with the whole congregation. Infant and toddler care is provided. Communion is open to all and is celebrated the first Sunday of the month. A coffee hour follows the worship service.
